6,739 miles
The title of this series refers to the miles separating New York from Tokyo. Every spring, soon after the spring equinox, cherry blossoms bloom for about ten days in both cities. Each piece is made from overlapping polaroids of cherry blossoms in full bloom photographed in both locations in the Spring of 2019. The color scheme reflects the colors of dawn and dusk, echoing the 13-hour timezone difference between the two locations. As the sun sets in one city, it rises in the other.
